5 Ways to Help Your Home Sell
November 10, 2009 by admin · 6 Comments

Are you hoping your home will sell? Quit hoping and help make it happen. The following is 5 tips to help your home sell.
1. Clean your home – I don’t just mean pick up. I mean really clean your home. Scrub the toilets, wipe down the baseboards, and clean out the fridge. I would even go so far as to suggest you hire a professional cleaner. The extra $100.00 you spend now could mean $1000’s of dollars on the sell of your home. Professionals are also great at seeing things you might just overlook because you live in the home.
2. Declutter – Rent a storage unit and fill it up completely. You don’t need all that stuff anyways. The reason decluttering is so important is people will start to look at your stuff rather then your home. They also have a hard time imagining themselves in the home when all they can see is your stuff. You want your home to be warm, comfortable and inviting. Not cluttered or messy.
3. Increase Curb Appeal – If they don’t go in the front door they can’t see how great the home is. Take the time to mow your lawn, plant some flowers, spray off the driveway, and make your house sparkle. First impressions are important so take the time to make sure you are providing a good one. This doesn’t have to be expensive but you should spend a few dollars on some flowers.
4. Light a candle – This seems so simple yet most sellers do not do it. Candles make the home smell fresh and it can cover up your 14 year old sons smell gym socks. If you really want to go the extra mile bake some cookies and leave them out for the buyers with a thank you note.
5. Hire a professional Realtor – I would love to apply for the job of selling your home. I work full time to ensure your home gets Maximum exposure. I will price your home correctly and work hard to bring in qualified buyers.

I really like Your site. Wordpress is a great way to showcase homes and blog post. We are trying it out as well.I really like what you have done. Great points and I agree, especially with the last one.
I noticed that you have chosen to leave out staging your home on this tip sheet, can you tell me why you chose to not include it here?
Excellent suggestions. Common sense stuff, that so many sellers do not take advantage of.
while i totally agree that staging your home is important and i wrote an entire article on it previously. i just put this list together with more of the simple stuff in mind.
Great points! Sellers don’t realize the money they are literally throwing away by just doing the minimum!
And yeah – Using their buddy to list the house is a killer.
A professional will suggest a stager if and when the house needs it.
I also might add a Professional photographer can really make a difference !
Good article. I agree with all the comments also. Many sellers don’t realize the power of presentation and how it can add thousands to their bottom line. Also, in my experience as a realtor, I always strongly recommend home staging regardless of how nice the home is.
